About Dana

I help students and families navigate admissions with confidence.

I work one-on-one with students to explore interests and goals, identify meaningful summer opportunities, plan for testing, and build a thoughtful college list. I also help families identify merit aid and other types of financial assistance when applicable, ensuring students find the right financial fit.

I take the stress out of the process by cutting through the noise. So much advice out there just adds pressure by telling teens what they “should” do. Very often this advice is not helpful. I help students and families focus on what really matters, so the journey is manageable and purposeful.

My essay coaching approach guides students to discover and share their authentic stories. I provide organizational support to keep the process clear and (relatively) stress-free.

In addition to college counseling, I offer guidance for high school applications throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

I have over 20 years of experience as a college teacher and extensive experience coaching writing, including personal statements. I hold a PhD in History from University of Wisconsin Madison, and a College Counseling Certificate from UCLA Extension. I am a proud member of Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA).
